What positive changes do Sorcerers have to look forward to in Update 6? All I see is another nerf bat, and the Surge changes seem to be the icing on the cake.
The primary goal of all these changes is to promote build diversity through buffing instead of nerfing. Some notable Sorcerer improvements are a reduced cast time on Crystal Shard, increased damage on Daedric Curse, and pets now inherit their owner’s critical strike rating. We would like Surge to continue being a key weapon in the Sorcerer’s arsenal, and will be monitoring PTS feedback on this ability.
So heavy armor will mitigate all damage types OTHER THAN SIEGE better with Update 6? Pretty sure metal plate protects a person from rocks or shells better than cloth.
Currently, siege damage is not mitigated by armor. Note that we want siege damage to be impactful against all players without one-shotting those who wear Light Armor.
In Update 6, you said we’ll be able to block magicka-based AoEs. Does this also affect the new Magicka Bomb skill?
Yes, it does.
With the changes coming in Update 6, will Fear still go through block?
Yes, Fear will still go through block. We like that Fear has a unique role on the battlefield, but we’ll continue to monitor how this interaction affects balance.
Will armor scale linearly or logarithmically? The reason I ask is because linear armor scaling results in exponential damage reduction growth as armor is added.
Armor in ESO scales logarithmically, and the damage reduction caps at 50% for physical and spell resistance.
We’ve heard that Wall of Elements will not be blockable after Update 6. Is that true? Similarly, will Caltrops remain blockable or will this stamina draining issue be fixed?
Currently, both Wall of Elements and Caltrops will be blockable with Update 6. That said, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to be blocking an effect on the ground and we may be updating these skills based on PTS feedback.
Are you guys planning on looking at Racial passives again after Update 6? Because some of the better Racial passives are going to be vastly better after that patch.
Absolutely, and we may even have time to get some changes made on PTS if you have specific feedback for us.
The damage-over-time for the Bow ability Venom Arrow will pretty much apply even if the target is blocking, but the damage-over-time from the Dual Wield ability Blood Craze will never apply if the target is blocking. I think it’s like the only damage-over-time that doesn't apply when you block. Is this intended?
This is intended behavior and now applies to Venom Arrow’s damage-over-time as well.
Since Skills that use Stamina after the patch will be based off Weapon Damage/Stamina/Weapon Crit, does this mean Fighters Guild abilities will now be good for Stamina users? Or is it just class skills that are being changed? Also is there any way we can get the 0.5 cast time removed from Dawnbreaker? It’s a pretty good Ultimate, but the fact that it can be interrupted fairly easy makes it basically used for the passive and nothing else. Other than the Templar’s channeled heal Ultimate, I don't think there is another Ultimate in the game with a cast time.
We have changed all skills in the game to conform to these standards, so yes Fighters Guild abilities will be more useful for stamina-based characters once Update 6 is live. We’ll look into the cast time for Dawnbreaker; also in Update 6, Dawnbreaker has received a substantial damage-over-time component.
Quick Siphon says it will heal any player that is attacking the target of the siphon, but in reality no healing happens unless the attacker also damages the target of the siphon (meaning, shielded target=no healing). Intended?
Yes and this is one of the unique things that makes damage shields different than a standard heal.
Will we be able to bash/interrupt heavy attacks in 1.6?
Not currently, however we have been planning an update where only the ranged heavy attacks can be interrupted (bow, restoration staff, and destruction staff).
If all Magicka-based AoEs will be blockable, will the Nightblade's Aspect of Terror be too? Because if so, block casting is going to be getting better and better in Update 6. Also, will this change affect skills like Dark Talons, or Dragonknight Standard, the Siphon Ultimate, Sap Essence, etc?
Aspect of Terror will not be blockable. Here are a few other examples of how this change will impact some of the other abilities mentioned:
Dark Talons – Damage is blockable, the immobilize is not
Dragonknight Standard – Blockable
Soul Shred – Blockable
Sap Essence – Blockable
Drain Power – Blockable (The caster still gains the Major Brutality buff as long as the ability deals damage.)
Note we’re looking into making all of the ground-based AoEs not blockable.
What is the status with Shadow Cloak and its morphs? Can we expect any fixes in Update 6? How about the whole stealth gameplay, any new mechanics/skills for that in Update 6 that players enjoying rogue type characters might like?
We are continuing to fix bugs with Shadow Cloak. With Update 6, we’ve introduced new quieter sound effects for sheathing and unsheathing weapons while stealthed. We’re also working on a new skill line associated with the Justice System that reduces the cost of sneaking. You can now stealth while in an NPC’s notice area, as long as you are not within their detection area. The stealth “hidden” eye also provides a more accurate indication of when you can and cannot be detected.
How will major and minor buffs be determined in 1.6? Will the order the buffs are applied determine which is the major/minor buff or is it something you "set" out of combat? – Jahosefat
We went through every ability in the game that provided a buff to player characters and replaced it with either a “Major” or “Minor” buff. The buff and whether it’s a Major or Minor one is determined by the ability; the buff also corresponds with the ability’s desired gameplay. For example, the Sorcerer’s Lightning Form ability now gives the Major armor buff, while Bound Armor gives the Minor armor buff. The armor bonus from these abilities scales based on your character’s level, so the Major buff might grant 5,120 armor while the Minor buff gives 960.
How do you keep a level playing field in the game when Vet players can pour Champion Points into newly created alts, while brand new players to the game cannot? – Caroloces
Champion bonuses scale based on your character’s level, so the passives will be much more effective at VR14 than at level 5. Additionally, most of the Champion bonuses increase your stats by a percentage. So increasing armor by 25% when you have only 100 is a much smaller value than when you have 20,000 armor. With Champion Points your alts will feel more powerful, and we think it’s going to be a lot of fun for high level players to make a new character and crush the monsters.
Separate key binds for weapon 1 and 2 were reported as being worked on. Any status update? – heroofnoneb14_ESO
Yes, this change is coming in Update 6. In addition to the weapon toggle keybind, you’ll be able to set keybinds for Weapon Set 1 and Weapon Set 2 in the keybind window. So three total keybinds. The ones for Weapon Set 1 and 2 are not assigned to any key by default. It's just there for those that want to use it.
We tweaked weapon toggling so it's less likely to double swap if you press the key binds in quick succession, too. There's a tiny delay built in before it registers another swap.
We also made weapon swapping feel more responsive; it can now be activated to interrupt a cast or while on cooldown.
So basically weapon swapping should function better in Update 6—we hope you’ll help us test it on the PTS!
Will the pet Critical Strike coming in Update 6 scale off of my Spell Crit or Weapon Crit? – NordJitsu
All pet summons are magicka-based abilities, so both their damage and critical strike rating are based off your Sorcerer’s spell stats.
When will the vendors in Cyrodiil sell blue VR14 mystery boxes? – LonePirate
Not in 1.6, but we do have a comprehensive loot update planned for PVP players in the future.
When the new class ability morphs are introduced, will our morphed ability levels be preserved and/or carried over, or will we have to re-level our morphed abilities? – Muizer
When Update 6 goes live, all the experience you have previously accrued (including progress in ability morphs) will be preserved.
Can you confirm, once and for all, for the record, whether or not Nirncrux can be found in Upper Craglorn while harvesting ANY node... like herbs and runes, and not just ore, cloth and wood... no matter how slim the chance may be? – Stonesthrow
Nirncrux is not found from alchemy and enchanting nodes in Craglorn, as those tradeskills do not use it. If you are hunting for Nirncrux, the smithing, woodworking, and clothier survey reports have a higher drop rate than normal nodes. We recommend doing those!
When will we finally get an option to disable the obnoxious notifications when guild members complete trials? – Samadhi
The option to turn off in-game notification mails is a request we’ve gotten often. We are working on adding the option to turn them off that will be introduced in a future patch or Update.
For the revamp and consolidation of the buffs and debuffs: Will we get a list of the changed effects in advance, and will we get a free respec to change our builds? – Menelaos
We’ll have a full list of the effects in the Update 6 patch notes, and yes everyone will get a free respec.
Will Naryu Virian be involved in the introduction of the Morag Tong? I want to see her again. – MercutioElessar
We want to see Naryu again, too! We’re talking about how best to use all of the various recurring characters in the future. There are ideas floating around for Naryu, but nothing has been nailed down quite yet.
What’s the highest amount of gold a player character can carry? – MercutioElessar
The absolute maximum gold a player character can carry is a little over 2 billion gold. Better hope that’s not all in copper!
If I buy ESO today in a box, or from a certain digital game distributor, will their codes still work? Even passed the date of ESO: Unlimited launch?
Yes. If you purchase a physical or digital copy of The Elder Scrolls Online today, your game code will still work. This will also be the case if you do so after March 17th. Our account system will automatically update your game to Tamriel Unlimited when you patch and log in to play.
Is Spellcrafting still being worked on? Will it be in the game before console release?
Spellcrafting is not being worked on at the moment, but it is still planned. We’ve worked on it quite a bit, but other work such as the Justice and Champion Systems were prioritized over it. That’s the nature of development and live development especially. We’ll get back to it when we can.
I would like to hear more on how Enlightenment works. Do we have to be offline to gain it? Or does everyone (regardless of time played) receive the same amount of Enlightenment every 24/hours?
Everyone receives the same amount of Enlightenment for a 24 hour period. Think of it as a clock; when it strikes 12:00PM, everyone has Enlightenment added.
Will there be an update with another Daedric Prince who will try to threaten us all?
Maybe! Anything is possible in MMO game development. If this is something we end up doing, you can be sure we’ll make a big announcement about it.
Do you do motion capture with optical systems for animations or are you just animating by looking at video references? What was the deciding factor in choosing this route?
Currently we don’t use motion capture animation. All our animation is hand-keyed by our animators, often using video reference. We chose to use the more traditional methods based on the stylized nature of our game design as it was evolving. As we look to the future, using motion capture with optical systems for certain situations is something that we may consider.
When talking about being able to stealth in NPC's notice area, does this include the Cyrodiil flag NPCs? And how about the changes to the stealth "hidden" eye, does this include NPCs that are currently able to instantly spot you (e.g. Cyrodiil flag NPCs)?
Cyrodiil remains untouched by the Justice System changes for stealth detection. Everything in Cyrodiil, including guard behavior at keeps and resources, functions just as it did prior to Update 6.
Will we ever see places in the game that are familiar to all fans, like Balmora, Seyda Neen and others? If we compare the map of the world in ESO and the world map of Tamriel in general, we see a lot of missed locations.
We certainly hope so!
Why is caltrops proc'ing as a melee attack? This causes Red Diamond passive (heal) to proc without cooldown which is kind of silly.
This is a bug, and will be fixed before Update 6 goes live.
Will you move some of the Wayshrines and guild traders to be more in line with those in Rawl'kha where the Wayshrine, 5 guild vendors, Bank, daily crafting quest turn-ins, and crafting stations are all right on top of each other?
This is an interesting suggestion, but we don’t have any current plans to move them.
Will PvP players see new set items like Arch Mage Rings for better set combinations in the future?
We will be releasing new item sets in the future. Stay tuned for details!
Would it be possible to make the skeletons from the gemstone of skeletal visage race and gender specific? At the moment you are turned into a generic male human skeleton.
That is a great suggestion, and we’ll look into the possibility of doing so in future update.
Will players who purchased the game on PC and are eligible to transfer to PS4 or Xbox1 be able to do so by the console release date?
Yes! We plan to make the transfer option available to those who are eligible well before June. We will contact all who are eligible via email wen the transfer option is available on our site.
What, if any, assurance can be offered to your current subscribers that the crown store won't be pushed and pointed to at every opportunity as box sales plateau and the store becomes a larger portion of income - for those of us who associate cash shops with increasingly negative experiences within MMOs?
We believe much of the negative connotation with cash shops stems from the fact that often, when a game undergoes such a change, the game is manipulated and affected in ways that make it less fun unless you spend money in the store. That is not the approach we want to take. We might offer things that relieve some in-game friction, but we won’t be adding friction to the game. We will continue to develop items for the Crown Store that sell convenience and customization.
We operate under the philosophy that the more people participating in longer play-sessions with friends and just enjoying themselves in the game, the more opportunities there will be for our community to find something they may want to purchase in the Crown Store. Our plan is to stock the store with offerings that make our players excited to invest further in their experience. We understand that many will simply buy and play the base game, and that’s great too!
Why can't we build campfires with all the wood we cut?
While we have no specific plans for this, we love to hear player ideas on new ways to use existing items in the game. Please keep the suggestions coming!
If new zones are going to scale to your level, does that mean they will be instanced, and that we therefore won't be able to see any other players if we're not grouped?
No, it doesn’t mean new zones will be instanced. We’ll release details when we’re a little closer to releasing new zones.
If we are allowed to copy our characters to Xbox One, can we then go back to PC and continue to play that account? Do I pay two different subs for Xbox and PC?
If you are eligible to transfer your characters from PC/Mac to PS4 or Xbox One, your characters will be copied. So, you’ll have your characters on PC/Mac, and a copy of them on either PS4 or Xbox One. You will need a PC/Mac account and a PS4 or Xbox One account. They are, for all intents and purposes, separate. So, if you choose to purchase an ESO Plus membership, you would need one for your PC/Mac account, and one for your PS4 or Xbox One account.
Will you offer new Motifs in the new Crown Store?
New motifs are being discussed for future DLC that will be offered in the Crown Store. So in that way: Definitely. As to whether or not we’ll offer Motifs a la carte, that isn’t decided.
Will bounties from one faction areas carry over to another? I play Ebonheart Pact and would not like to be known as a criminal in that faction and still want people to speak to me in that faction. If I got to a DC area and rack up a bounty will I only be seen as a criminal there, and will I only have a bounty when in that factions areas?
Bounties are universal in ESO (but not account-wide). This means if one of your characters has accrued a bounty, he or she will have a bounty everywhere in Tamriel. We went back and forth on this quite a bit. In the end, we felt it was too easy to game the system without consequence if bounties were not universal.
Is Wrothgar still going to be a solo zone? Is Murkmire still going to be a group zone?
Wrothgar will be a zone very much like Auridon, Rivenspire, etc. However, it won’t have level requirements.
When will we see footage of the Xbox One version of the game?
We also published a screenshot of the controls on Xbox One in yesterday’s Road Ahead. We’ll continue to show off console footage over the next couple of months leading up until launch.
How will people be able to communicate on the console version considering consoles do not have a keyboard and mouse? Will there be some speech to text or voice communication.
There will be voice chat on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. The console version will also support a USB-connected keyboard for chat, just like the PC/Mac version does.
How does DLC work? Do we own it after downloading it? For example if I choose to buy DLC i will have that, but if i aquire DLC because i have a tamerial unlimited subscription will i get to keep that content or have access to it, if I choose to opt out of the month payments later down the road.
ESO Plus members who allow their memberships to lapse will keep all items earned but lose access to DLC content such as additional dungeons. You’ll gain access once you rejoin ESO Plus. Alternatively, players can also purchase individual DLC packs from the in-game Crown Store. Purchased DLC remains on the player's account and does not lapse.
Will PC to console transfer ever be sold? I'm not talking about the ones last year for the few that are eligible. Many of us missed that buy-date time and want to transfer a character to console.
No.
Can we have Zach Bush on ESO Live again please? Especially if he brings along more of his questions that he asked the loremaster. #LoreBits with Zach Bush.
We spoke to Zach, and he’d be happy to provide new LoreBits in the future! Just not today, because he’s taking a much-deserved day off.
With the new collection system and console transfers that are available for certain pc users. Will my pets, mounts, and costumes transfer with the character I copy? (Just wondering if you can potentially have the Imperial Edition on the console without actually purchasing a 2nd Imperial Edition for the console.) Minus the Imperial race of course(Unless you are transferring an Imperial Character)
Yes, if you purchase the Imperial Edition of ESO on PC/Mac, when you transfer to console during the character copy, your Collections items will transfer with you. You won’t need to purchase the Imperial Edition again.
Will there be item interaction like in all the other Elder Scrolls? I would really love to put a bucket on my friends head or make Npc's pose when I KILL them.
We don’t have plans for this at this time, but we’d love to put a bucket on your friend’s head as well.
Has the Server situation on console been finalized yet? I have a number of friends on PS4 in the US while I am in EU and would like to play with them. Will we be able to switch megaserver on console?
We are finalizing these details and will share more information as soon as we can!
Can I use stolen items in crafting like food making?
Absolutely. The system will even prioritize using stolen goods over non-stolen ones to help dispose of the contraband.
Are you ready to tackle the influx of gold spam that comes whenever a game goes f2p/b2p? Or will you be like other companies, such as PW, and ignore it?
We continue to take gold spamming seriously, and we’re constantly tuning our tools to address gold spam in the game.
Looking at increasing number of question about race change possibility - when are you going to address issue of racial passives being imbalanced OR give us possibility to change our character's race?
We don’t have any plans to announce about changing your race at this time.
When are the Guar Plushes going to be in stock?
We don’t have an exact date, but they are still being made!
Will costumes, alike to armor, have the ability to be recolored or dyed?
This is actually a bit more complicated than it seems on the surface, but we are investigating ways to get you the color variety you want from costumes.
Are the Veteran Ranks here to stay at this point?
No. We’re still planning to remove Veteran Ranks after we launch ESO: TU on console. We don’t have an exact timeline to share, as with development things can change and we want to make sure that we’re handling the transition properly.
Why is it possible for people to bypass the home and guest system and jump into any Cyrodiil campaign? – yodased
ESO is a social game, and this is a decision we made with a priority on playing with friends in mind. We didn’t want to block people from playing with friends and guildmates in Cyrodiil because they chose a different home campaign or because their campaign was full.
It would be great if you could see on your character sheet how much Enlightenment you have remaining. Is this something you might add in the future? – Endoc
We don’t have plans to show this on your character sheet, but you can see how much enlightenment you have remaining by looking at your Champion Bar tooltip in the top left of your screen.
With the consoles being closed platforms and every system has the same specs ie. all PS4's are the same, what advantages are you guys able to make on console with the game? – Hawk269
As we focused on creating our console experience, we looked at how to take advantage of the PS4/XB1 game controllers fully, including implementing rumble support to add weight the game. The UI was redesigned to be familiar to console gamers, and we added voice support to lower the friction of interacting and communicating with other players—most console gamers don’t use keyboards when they play.
Are there more details on voice support? Will we be able to mute annoying players like we are able to ignore people in the chat window? – Hawk269
There will be multiple chat channels that you can switch between including group, guild, and area chat. If you run into someone blaring music in area chat or doing something you want to ignore, you’ll be able to mute that player. In addition to the in-game voice channels, you can also use the PS4 and XB1 party chat features.
Are you looking at doing anything with vampires and werewolves in the future? If so, what? – MornaBaine
For Update 6, we decreased the vampire and werewolf fire and poison vulnerability from 50% to 40%. Overall, we don’t want you to be unable to complete certain content because of your choice to be a vampire or werewolf. One potential solution to this would be to make vampires vulnerable for only a short time after activating Vampire skill line abilities. That way, if you saw a swarm of bats in PvP, you’d know to use fire-based abilities against them. With this approach, we’d keep that cool interaction, but you could slot different abilities for fire-heavy PvE content.
Currently due to the Werewolf bonus 15% stamina regeneration while in human form there is very little reason to be a normal non-vampire, non-werewolf mortal. Will this ever be addressed? – Turelus
We don’t have current plans to change this, but it is something we’d like to address in the future.
With the recent changes to the buff system, some potion effects no longer have the impact they had before Update 6. For example, Magelight already increases your spell damage and the potion effect doesn’t stack. Would you consider changing these buffs to be stackable (and maybe less potent)? – Beyond Infinity
We like the fact that this creates some choices for character builds—you can run buff abilities or run buff potions. That said, this is one of many new features from 1.6 that we will be monitoring.
In Trials and Veteran Dungeons, the recent change to Fiery Grip and its morph often results in being pulled to a temporarily CC-immune target instead of having the target pulled to you. In Dragonstar Arena, this usually results in a swift death. Would you please reconsider this change or allow players to interrupt the pull with a block (as you previously had to do it with spell reflect?) – Beyond Infinity
We don’t have any plans to change the functionality of Fiery Grip and its morphs, but we’re discussing allowing you to block and cancel it.
Will food and drink be stackable after 1.6? – randolphbenoit
No. We significantly buffed the resource regeneration rate of drinks to make them competitive with the increased pool sizes from food. It didn’t make sense to have to use two separate items for the same function of a long term buff. This is a cleaner design and should encourage you to make a decision about which you prefer. In the future, we might consider making a “meal” item that gives both maximum resource and regeneration increases, but at smaller values than what food or drink currently do.
Will we get a disagree button on the official forums in the future? – Ranvara
We are currently discussing adding agree and disagree—or possibly upvote and downvote—options to our official forums.
Are the Striped Senche mounts Khajiit or just beasts? – Gidorick
They are non-sentient cousins of the Khajiit. Technically “Senche” by itself refers to one of the furstocks, or “breeds” of Khajiit; the mounts should always be referred to as “Senche-Tigers” to maintain the distinction.
Will we see any additions to the crown store before June? Is there a schedule for releasing new items in the Crown Store? – heroofnoneb14_ESO
Yes! There is a modest set of products scheduled to be released between the Crown Store launch on March 17th and June.
Will you ever consider adding more bank space, inventory space, or guild bank space to the Crown Store for purchase? – The Noore Guild
It is absolutely being considered. The Collections System should help with inventory space, but we’ve been discussing the best way to allow you to improve and/or expand personal and guild banks as well.
I really like the new Orc and Redguard armors in Update 6. Can we expect more styles to get an overhaul, and if so, which? (Please say Dunmer and Nord) – Faulgor
Thank you! We’re glad you like the changes. We don’t have current plans to revisit any other older armor sets. Right now, we’re continuing to make more awesome armor sets as in-game rewards and loot, and we’re also creating new costumes and cosmetic items for the Crown Store.
How is a VR14 character supposed to earn XP for the Champion System when they’ve completed Cadwell's Silver and Gold already? – LonePirate
There are a number of ways to earn XP in the game other than questing—killing monsters, going through dungeons, finishing Crafting Writs, participating in the Alliance War, etc. There are also repeatable quests, such as those from Cyrodiil and from the Undaunted.
Do you have any plans to raise the XP gain potential in PvP? Compared to doing quests or grinding, you gain so few XP in Cyrodiil. – Starwhite
We did increase the XP gain potential once before in patch 1.5. When it comes to the Alliance War, our data shows some people are very successful in gaining XP in Cyrodiil. PvP is funny, though; not all players are created equal on the battlefield, so XP rates vary wildly in Cyrodiil.
Why don’t NPCs take fall damage? I’ve used Uppercut on bridges and ledges, and they don’t take fall damage. – The Noore Guild
We wanted the world have as many cool vistas and cliffs as it does, but with fall damage on NPCs we knew it would quickly become apparent that the best way to defeat many difficult encounters would be to drag enemies to the nearest ledge and knock them off. Over and over. This behavior, while it’d probably be fun the first few times, would result in making encounters trivial and uninteresting in the long run, so we opted to disable the fall damage.
Will we ever get the ability to send hirelings out on longer missions for better items? I'd love to add points to that if it allows me to get a higher chance to score Gold-level items to craft with. – Inco
We know how much everyone wants to interact more with their hirelings, and we love the idea. It’s something we’re looking into, but we don’t have any solid plans at this time.
Do you have an update on a fix for the “You can’t ride while in combat” issue in Cyrodiil that prevents summoning your mount even if you aren’t in combat? – Der_Geronimo
We haven’t seen this issue pop up since we implemented the fix for Cyrodiil guards being able to detect you from very far away. If you run into this after Update 6 goes live, please use /bug to report it with as many details as possible.
Since the Collection System has pretty much fixed/improved the way players own and use their mounts, does this mean we can still expect horse racing sometime in the near future? – Nutronic
Horse racing is something we’re interested in doing and frequently discuss internally. We’re prototyping horse racing, but otherwise not actively working on it.
Curragraigue - Where will we be able to buy subscriptions and crowns from for console? Will we be able to buy from PSN and Xbox Live, or only from ZOS? Will we be able to get console subs at launch or sometime after?
The PS4 and Xbox One versions of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited are fully integrated console experiences. This includes utilizing the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace for the sale of ESO Plus memberships and crowns—all available at launch.
Anazasi – Can we please see a VR14 version of the Soul Shine set?
One of the gameplay team’s primary focuses will be on creating new sets, as well as creating higher level versions of some of the older sets. The list isn’t 100% finalized yet, but we do plan on giving players lots of cool options for high level play.
keonimeyer - Will there be an option to allow other players to ride your mount with you?
Our current mounts are built to accommodate only one player, and we don’t have plans to support additional riders at this time.
AshTal – We are all aware that for a normal player, playing a few hours a week, Alliance ranks take years to get. Can we make them account wide so players can play alts, not be forced to take the same character every day because otherwise their ranks are split across multiple characters and they are at a disadvantage?
We mentioned last time that alliance ranks are meant to take a long time to level. However, the idea of making them account wide is something we’re investigating. It will require some time to implement if we decide to do so.
Neizir - By drop rate, what is the rarest possible item in the entire game?
The full Dwemer racial motif style book, “Racial Motifs 15: Dwemer”. Not the individual chapters, but the single book that teaches you all of the chapter knowledge at once. It exists, but it’s extremely rare.
Shadow - Is there any hope in getting the time spent in werewolf form looked at? I don't just mean for staying in combat to sustain it. I mean turning the ultimate into a toggle and allowing us to transform at will and remain in wolf form while outside of combat, running around Tamriel, turning in quests and exploring/looting while still being able to remain in beast form.
We’re pretty happy with how the werewolf is currently playing based on the improvements from update 1.6, notably the fact that Blood Rage passive allows you to stay in werewolf for a very long time while being active in combat and taking damage. But we will definitely continue to evaluate the gameplay of Werewolf.
timidobserver - With the changes in 1.6 to stat caps, much of the endgame gear and crafted feels useless. Are you planning to rebalance gear in order to address this?
The overall goal for endgame gear is that you can use it to customize your playstyle. Some players want to focus on high regeneration so they can cast many expensive abilities, while others want to have really strong blocks or deal high fire damage. For the future, we’ll iterate on sets and make sure their power level achieves these goals.
Thuster - When playing around with alchemy, I couldn't help but notice that it would be very convenient with an in-game notebook where you could write down recipes, things to remember, maybe the possibility to write down lore from your adventures and let other players read them in some way. Maybe in a book shop where you can sell and buy books.
This is a neat idea, but we currently have no plans for this type of addition.
Saucy_Jack - Is it possible to have super rare loot or trophies that could be found from either chests, safeboxes, or pickpocketing that give actual bonuses not available elsewhere to players for having them in our inventory? It would incentivize the players to do something other than just grind mobs.
We currently have monster and fishing trophies as rare drops that you can collect, and we’d like to expand that system to allow for more scavenger hunting style gameplay, but we don’t currently have plans for them provide direct character bonuses.
wenxue2222b16_ESO - Could you please give careful consideration to increasing the limit on the number of players allowed in one guild? The limit feels too small given the recent large influx of new players that are looking for an established guild to join.
The 500 player cap is a result of both design and technical constraints as the larger a guild is, the more data is sent out across its members constantly and the more unwieldy it becomes. We don’t have plans to increase the current guild size, but we encourage you to join multiple guilds to help expand your in-game social circles.
LogicalPhule - Would you please start adding an "Estimated Time of Return" for servers when you do maintenance?
Yes, we can start giving an estimated time when the server will come back online, though please understand that this will only be an estimate!
KhmerShadow - Will Werewolf Berserkers ever get a change in fur color to differentiate from non-morphed werewolves?
We like this idea, but currently we don’t plans for werewolf color variations.
Greeniewolfub17_ESO - why is it most people that have played since beta got 4700-5000 crowns and I got 3200?
A small number of users did not receive the correct amount of crowns when we deployed crowns at the launch of Tamriel Unlimited. We have since resolved that issue, so you should now have the correct amount of crowns. For those wondering, you should have received 500 for purchasing the game, 100 for each month subscribed, and 1500 for each remaining month on your subscription.
randolphbenoit - Why no children in the game? Feels unreal only adults and chickens everywhere...
Hermaeus Mora knows...
AureateRN - While somewhat discouraged, solo players do still exist in this game. As the lone wolves...or "men and mer" of Tamriel we miss out on much, albeit by choice, and it has now been confirmed in the most recent patch notes that we are intentionally deprived of the benefits of Ultimate Synergies. When no other player is present, is it really necessary for solo players to be unable to activate the synergy on an Ultimate they have earned?
Synergies are a reward for players working together. The great part about our slotting system is that you have a wide variety of options available to customize your playstyle. Some ultimates are better for group play like Consuming Darkness because it protects all your allies and gives them a synergy. Ultimates like Death Stroke are better for solo play because it only increases the ability caster’s damage.
Peteris - Do you plan add more evil choices to quests and especially main zone chains (since they can’t be skipped)? It feels weird to play criminal and go around helping and saving people.
We try to not have overtly “good” or “evil” choices when we put a choice in a quest. Elder Scrolls is much more about the morally ambiguous - the gray area in-between good and evil.
Flynch - Any chance we could get idle animations with our weapons drawn (as well as the current auto-combat stance). So with a 2-hander you may have it slung over your shoulder, or SnB have the shield balanced on the floor etc.
Definitely agree it would be a nice touch to add idle animations and fidget animations into normal idle poses, as well as combat idle poses. Right now we don’t have a fidget system that would support that, and creating the animations for every weapon set would take time (plus creating the transition animations). It’s something that would certainly add more personality to the characters, and certainly worthwhile to discuss and investigate.
aneova_ESO - Can we get a toggle for whether a dye is metallic or not? I'm tired of having a shiny butt with VR14 Bosmer Leather. Can you fix the issue with some armor's dying incorrectly? tops being extremely lighter then tops when the armor is same quality. Some dyes are stating as browns or golds and when applied are nowhere near the color listed, woodsman green turns teal when set as the first color of an armor piece but others it is in fact green, wolf's fur brown turns to almost silver.
Thank you for the feedback. There are some technical reasons for the issues you mentioned above. But our team is looking to see where we can make improvements based on that feedback.
technohic - Are you guys aware of and working on the bugs in Templars Eclipse (and morphs) as well as Focused Charge (and morphs)?
Yes! We’re actively working on addressing issue with Focused Charge and Eclipse. We’ll work to get those issues resolved as soon as we can.
nightwalkerrobin_ESO – Ever consider combat pets for ALL CLASSES, not just sorcs?
It’s a fun idea, but we also want classes to remain unique and different. The Nightblade has Shadow Image which is special because it can’t be attacked. Summoned pets that last until killed is a cool mechanic that only Sorcerers have access to. If we did add pets for other classes it would probably be something everyone had access to, and we would want their gameplay to be distinct from Sorcerer and Nightblade pets.
Etmer_Fachronies: Why can’t we separate the dodge mechanics from the Endurance bar? It is a strong penalty for all endurance-based builds.
Stamina based characters have advantages and disadvantages. A bigger stamina pool means you can activate roll dodge more frequently, however doing so reduces your offensive capabilities. Magicka based characters don’t have this option of trading some of their damage for more survivability. Additionally, this means stamina based characters heavy attacks will restore stamina, which gives them the ability to activate more defensive abilities. To balance this we also made Stamina based attacks cheaper than magicka with passives in the weapon skill lines that reduce cost by 20%. Managing the versatility is complicated, but also rewarding for players who spend these resources in the right way.
Resipsa131 - Will we be able to use emotes on the console? I can't live without my /leanbackcoin.
Yes, just like in the PC version of ESO:TU, players will be able to use emotes in the console version using a new interface designed with the gamepad in mind.
Alannaofmars - When will we be getting more motifs? I would really like more styles that can be turned into competitive armor rather than more stat-less clothes or costumes where it is impossible to swap out individual sections and dye.
We are absolutely committed to adding more styles for the foreseeable future. Where and when is still being determined, but we can say we have multiple in the pipeline.
Djeriko - Still no SHIELD DYES!?
We know you’re “dyeing” for shield dyeing. This is on our short-term backlog and we hope to get it into the game in a near future update.
Gimp4268 - Are there any plans to be able to research food? That way there is another way to get a recipe other than finding them? It can be pretty hard to find ingredients that you can't use because you can never find the recipe to make the food.
There are no plans for adding research to provisioning, but we are exploring adding more culturally influenced foods with unique and offbeat ingredients. In addition to finding recipes in containers, you also receive a recipe every time you complete a provisioning crafting writ.
RandolphBenoit - Will Thieves Guild armor set be craft-able and available soon?
This is not something we have planned for the near future, but as we continue to expand and add new content, there may be an ideal opportunity for us to integrate something like this.
keonimeyer - In the future, will there be flying mounts?
Never say never, but we currently have no plans for flying mounts.
MornaBaine - Will there be more polymorph costumes in the Store next month? When will new store content be released?
We definitely have more content on the way to the Crown Store, including more polymorphs, although this isn’t planned for next month. We are regularly adding new content to the Crown Store as part of our planned monthly updates. We’re also monitoring feedback from players, and reacting as quickly as we can.
Varicite - Are there any future plans for allowing players to buy "gifts" for other players through the Crown Store? Such as buying a wedding dress for a significant other, or a pretty horse for a dowry?
We are actively looking at ways that players can purchase items and share the benefit with their friends. At this time, we do not expect to have gifting in the way that is described here in the short term. But we do know that this is something players want and revisit this request on a regular basis.
Phantomtarget - Could it be possible to get the tiger mount for console users in the future. Since we didn't have a chance to play for a year like pc users did.
Possible, but it's not probable.
LonePirate - Why is there a limit on the number of daily quests a player can complete each day? How do we go about removing that limit which has been around long before Update 6 arrived?
This is due to a combination of the increased rewards provided from daily quests with wanting to keep players with limited playtime from falling immediately and hopelessly behind.
Iago - Does the ZOS staff ever jump on their own characters and go into PvP to knock around the rest of us in PvP? If not you should it would be great stress relief I'd imagine.
While we won’t acknowledge that we’re part of the ZOS team, we are constantly in the game playing with you all!
Enodoc - Would you consider adding a "graveyard" wayshrine like in the PvE zones' delves (respawn only) to the Cyrodiil delves? Currently if you get killed by an enemy you are sent back to the border gate if you have no soul gems. (This would only apply to PvE deaths within the respective delve; PvP deaths would give you the option of respawning at a Keep as usual.)
We have thought about putting respawn wayshrines in the Cyrodiil delves, however this eliminated one of the more exciting portions of going into a cave and fighting the enemy, forcing them to respawn elsewhere.
Elloa - Is it proper to drink in a "Temple of the 7 Gods", or is it considered as a desecration, or a very disrespectful behavior?
Lady Cinnabar of Taneth says, “Context is everything! Drinking in a temple can be completely respectable, especially if part of the drink is poured off as a libation for the Divines. However, drunken misbehavior, unless called for in a specific ritual, should be avoided, lest it give offense to the pious, who may demand that the inebriates be punished for their disrespect.”
BardicusSpiffy: Have you ever thought of having contests where the players would design a suit of armor, a piece of armor or maybe a shield and the winners would have their designs added to the game world as a motif similar to the dwemer motifs that could be found in game?
That’s a really cool idea! We’ll consider something like this for our next contest after our Collectible Creatures Fan Art Contest concludes.
ChannelTribes: On the ESO home website it shows the classes, a short description of them, and a screenshot of what appeared to be the PvP concept art armor from quakecon in game. Is this the same armor we saw from quakecon for PvP players? If so, when can we expect to see it live in game?
Yep! These are the same concepts that were shown at QuakeCon last year. While we don’t have an ETA, you will be able to get these armor pieces in a future update.
MissBizz: It has been noticed that in the console beta, players have 16 character slots rather than 8. Will PC players have 16 characters slots in the future?
This is actually a bug, and you will only have 8 total character slots when ESO releases on console. If you try to create more than 8 characters during beta, you’ll actually receive an error message.
Argoniawind: Will you guys make a Daedroth pet and a summoning feature like I was able to do in Morrowind and Oblivion? Also I would love to see shirts and a plushy Daedroths... Daedroths need to be a bigger part of this game!!!
There’s actually an item set you can gain from the Undaunted called Maw of the Infernal that summons a daedroth for 15 seconds. You don’t see him around much because the set isn’t quite powerful enough. We’ll be addressing this in the next major update. In terms of a daedroth plushie, we haven’t announced what our next plushie will be, but keep the suggestions coming!
Anazasi: Is it possible to get information posted in the patch notes when new versions of gear are added to live? It would really help players who are waiting for these new level versions.
Yes, we will definitely make sure new item sets are listed in the patch notes when they are going live. For what it’s worth, we are working on about 20 new high-level item sets for our next major content update!
Sheezabeast: Curious minds want to know...well at least mine....why do we have no Mundus stone for Stamina Regen?
You make a fair point; it makes sense to have stamina regeneration stones since the atronach gives magicka regeneration. This is something we’ll look into further.
MercyKilling: When are we actually going to be able to USE these achievement points we've been accumulating all this time, and what on?
We’d like to do more with these, but we don’t have any immediate plans to do so at this time.
Helluin: I recall that during Update 6 on PTS, racial passive skills would receive a rebalance sometime after Update 6. Is this planned for the next major update after console release or for an incremental patch?
We want to release balance updates to the racial passives at the same time we allow players to respec their race. Otherwise it is unfair to everyone if one race was a poor mage at launch but then becomes one of the top choices. For the next major update we’ll make some minor adjustments to the least popular races.
Mackshadow: There is the Hide Helm option in the Game settings; can there be an option or sub option for Bound Armor in the Deadric Summoning tree on the Sorcerer class to hide the visual? I use that ability often and I also like that style gear I wear, and was wondering if there can be an option to hide it?
We do not have any plans to offer that option.
KrisButtar: Will the PS4 version support Keyboard and Mouse?
The console version of ESOTU will not support a mouse. It will support a keyboard, but solely for text input in areas such as naming your guild, and submitting a support ticket. The game will fully support voice chat on both Xbox One and PS4.
Fran369b14_ESO: Will the console UI include features such as buff/debuff icons, floating combat text, map additions such as book &/or shard locations?
Add-ons are not supported in the console version of ESOTU, but you will be able to view buffs and debuffs in the UI which we’ll show you later in today’s show.
MercyKilling: Okay, no auction house. Ever. How about removing the guild membership requirement in order to sell at kiosks?
Player guilds are an integral part of our world and trader access is a key benefit to guild membership. We have no plans to change this at this time.
RandolphBenoit: Can we unlock 'Emperor’s Regalia' costume (for Outside Cyrodiil - All Players) when we reach 10,000 Achievement points or maybe add it to Crown Store?
It’s important for us to maintain offering meaningful, distinct rewards for significant accomplishments. That being said, we may at some point consider making a variant available through other means.
Heromofo: Is it possible to see our costumes and transmorgs get the dye treatment?
We don’t have any plans to offer something like this at this time.
Shogunami: Do you have any plans on adding disguises and trophies to the collections? As it is right now, disguises and trophies only take up space in the bank or inventory.
We absolutely plan to expand the collection system in the future, and things like dungeon trophies are a prime candidate for conversion. Disguises are a little trickier due to their inherent mechanical effects, such as affecting NPC agro and being destroyed when attacked, but we may look into some lateral options to support something like this.
Aetherderius: Are there any plans for meeting lore-established characters? I've seen a fair bit of talk in EP zones wanting to meet Vivec and Divyath Fyr. Or a less grotesque version of Yagrum Bagarn?
Phrastus of Elinhir says, “Oh, everyone has heard of Vivec—he makes certain of that—and he’s bound to reappear sometime soon with more egocentric blather about his ‘mystic exploits.’ I myself have corresponded with Divayth Fyr, but he tends to keep to himself in his fungal tower. But that’s a Telvanni wizard for you. Yagrum Bagarn? Never heard of him.”
Sacadon: Why are we asked to provide a lot of detail on frequently occurring and easily reproducible issues? For example, if we say our mounts consistently stop, why not have someone at ZOS test it? It may have only taken us a few minutes to collect the information and many of us do like to help, but that's not the point.
There are potentially a number of factors that could actually be causing any particular bug. It may not be as simple as “get on a mount, run, and you’ll stop.” There could be very specific details that are actually causing the bug to happen, for example a specific race, class, gender, armor, active buffs, if you’re sprinting, jumping 3 times, if there’s other players around, etc. There are almost endless factors, so including all the details you can increases our chances of reproducing the issue sooner. We always try to reproduce issues internally that we see being reported, but sometimes it’s not quite as easy as it seems, and sometimes there’s one key ingredient missing. When reporting issues, there’s no such thing as too much information!
How will trophy/achievement support work on PS4 and Xbox One? – dayedpsn
Both console versions of ESOTU will have trophies/achievements, as you’d expect. They are account-based and work like every other PS4 and Xbox One game. You can view them through your console profile. We also have in-game achievements as they exist on the PC/Mac version of the game.
Would it be possible to add the Campaign name to anything which involves being in Cyrodiil? For example, on the Group and Guild rosters, the Friends list, and the loading screens for Cyrodiil and its delves (and Imperial City, Sewers and Districts when they arrive). That way, we would know which instance friends are in when trying to group, and also which instance we are loading into if we logged out from some Cyrodiil delve six weeks ago and can't remember which campaign that delve is in.
Example: References to "Breakneck Cave" changed to "Breakneck Cave (Thornblade)". – Enodoc
This is a good suggestion. It’s possible that we could add this in a future update. We’ll discuss it.
Would you consider adding map and compass icons for the Imperial Milegates and Bridges in Cyrodiil? It would be useful for navigation if we could see where they are from a distance on the compass, like keeps, so we can go directly towards them rather than having to constantly check their exact position on the map. – Enodoc
We have considered adding map icons for those key structures and locations like the Bridges and Milegates however we currently are butting up against some limitations on the amount of map pins allowed in a zone—Cyrodiil has an abundance. If we can get around those limitations, it’s possible.
There are 21 Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil which have map markers, 7 in each territory. Yet there are a number of other named Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil, some of which are bigger than those with icons (such as Rielle.) Is there a plan/reason for those which were specifically given icons, considering there are 7 in each territory? – Enodoc
Ayleid ruins that are major ruins with lots of creatures inhabiting them usually have Point of Interest icons but as you noted, some have slipped through due our current limitations with how many POIs we can put on a single map (such as Cyrodiil).
Do you plan to offer alternative skills or mechanics to folks poor at animation canceling as an alternative to the current meta that requires it be used in most challenging fights or pvp? – HeroOfNone
Adding heavy attacks into your damage rotation is easier than light attacks. We have a number of ways to increase heavy attack damage such as the Dragonknight’s Molten Weapons, Sorcerer’s Bound Armaments and the Undaunted item sets.
Would you be able to confirm whether or not the summoned pets are able to take advantage of sorcerer passives like disintegrate; or are they only affected by Daedric Prey, Empowering Ward, and the sorcerer's magicka? Are there any stats/skills other than those three which affect them? – Nahz
Disintegrate does not buff the pet damage, however Exploitation does. A Sorcerer’s Magicka pool and Critical Strike rating are used to determine the pet’s attributes and stats. As of the next update, this will mean pets get to double dip from Exploitation – benefitting from you casting it on yourself, and benefiting from you casting it on the pet.
Blade Cloak - I noticed that when leveling up this ability, none of the ranks actually seem to do anything (no duration change, no cost change, no damage change, nothing.) This is the only ability that I know of that exhibits no change from Ranks I-IV or even after morphing the ability (I chose Quick Cloak.) Is this intended or a bug? – Varicite
You are correct. All abilities should increase in some aspect as they rank up. With Blade Cloak there was a minor bug we just fixed where the increase was smaller than expected and sometimes not seen at lower levels.
PvP is very tough for new Vet 1 characters mostly death followed by more deaths. Is there any plan to balance the Veteran campaign and make it a bit easier to get into and not have every keep/resource fall to the larger team of uber lv Vet14's in under 10 minutes? – AshTal
In the future we would love for Veteran Ranks 1-13 to be granted battle-level stats if players desired. For now, we are looking at the difficulty of NPCs and keep wall/door health as possible counters, but that can only go so far since Non-Vet and Standard (veterans allowed) campaigns share the same data set. We are keeping longer-term solutions in mind.
Why is my gamertag displayed instead of my character name or UserID? – Lots of console beta testers
We display PSN IDs on PS4 and gamertags on Xbox One instead of character name or UserID to be consistent with the already established social mechanisms available through Microsoft and Sony.
What major changes from the Beta to the Release version are taking place? How old was the Beta version we played? – Hawk269
Major changes include the introduction of the QuickChat system, and of course bug fixes and polish.
World Bosses are interesting and I love that they provide small rewards and experience, but could we please see something like a Fighters Guild Bounty board to hunt these bosses down on a daily or weekly basis to earn a reward? It would renew the interest in the world bosses and provide another way for veteran players to earn experience and rewards. – Shadesofkin
We like it! No promises, but we’ll think on this one and see if we can figure something out.
Will we see an early access to the console version like you guys did with the pc version? – Heromofo
We will not have an early access period for the console launch of ESOTU, but you will be able to log in at midnight your time on June 9th and begin playing.
Will we ever see the Vampires of Morrowind, like Berne, Aundae, and Quarra Clans while traveling through Morrowind. – Arielle Jurard
Divayth Fyr says, “These clans of vampiric pests are native to Vvardenfell, and are rarely encountered on the mainland—if ever.”
Are there any plans to give criminals the option to cure vampirism and/or werewolf? Currently this is impossible with a large and un-payable bounty. – Brizz
This is something that we’ve discussed a couple of times, but currently we haven’t scheduled it for a full design yet. We do think this should be an option for perma-criminals, but we have to carefully consider how this affects gameplay—we want there to be some incentives for paying off bounties from time to time. However, we definitely are considering this in the future.
How do I effectively level the Legerdemain skill line? It feels like it levels so slowly. What should I do to train it more quickly? – Wooshpower
This is a matter of personal style, and there are several ways to go about it. If your primary concern is leveling Legerdemain quickly, then look into poaching and selling stolen guts and animal parts. Usually there are only a couple farmers near farm animals, so you can typically kill their livestock before they notice – and if you do get noticed, you’re probably on the outskirts of town so you can run away from guards quickly enough. The risk for poaching is fairly low, and you won’t feel terrible if a guard confiscates your poached animal parts.
Now, you won’t get much coin for this and it might not be as exciting as stealing from homes, but you’ll rank up fairly quickly. Another quick option would be to steal from the barrels and furniture that you see in towns. It’s faster than pickpocketing or killing, and also much safer. Some homes and businesses have loads of containers, and you can gather a lot of any quality item very quickly. It has a bit more risk associated with it, though, but it would be good if you wanted to feel more thiefy and less stabby. You should always also expand your Legerdemain passive “Trafficker” as soon as you can, so you are using your fence to the maximum while doing this.
Lastly, make sure to both fence and launder up to your daily cap each day, as each item processed through the fence gives a point of legerdemain experience. And once you’ve maxed your daily caps, you can continue to gain progress (albeit slower) by continuing to pick locks and pickpocket. You can even save up blue-quality stealables to sell to a fence the next day—just make sure not to get caught!
Does it snow in Daggerfall? If yes then what celebrations and traditions do they do? – RandolphBenoit
Phrastus of Elinhir says, “Thanks to warm currents to the west in the Eltheric Ocean, it rarely snows in Daggerfall, but the Bretons of that city-state nonetheless celebrate all the winter holidays of the Iliac Basin, particularly the New Life Festival at the turn of the year.”
Will we ever see the Cadwell Silver and Gold quests amended so rather than a mystic dream we are sent by our own faction to the other zones to continue working for them, or are you planning on moving away from these quests and going to add in a different/better way to go from vet 1 to vet 11? – AshTal
We don’t have plans to change the Silver and Gold quests, but we are currently working on ways to make accessing them more straightforward. Once we’ve got a solution we’re happy with, we will message it out to all our players.
