[BUG] With hardcasted Crystal Fragments, been like this since IC launch. Pls read ZOS.

So ive had this bug with my sorc since patch. Its really gamebreaking for me and I havent played him since IC launched because of it, Ive reported it 2 times with no results and I know some other sorcs in my guilds have the same issue, altho i doubt they have it as bad as me.

What happens is: I hardcast crystal fragments and animation cancel it with either light atack or structured entropy and the projectile doesnt go anywhere, it just hovers by my head at the side of my char (see pic) and my target seemingly doesnt get hit, but it does because suddenly like 2 sec after their hp catches up and they suddenly die. My own health often desyncs like that too when this happens resulting in me having much lower hp then I realise, and suddenly im executed.eu48mvssuxpu.png

    Yes, I believe he may be on to something, hardcasting crystal frag is definitely a bug. Pls fix! o:)

    Yep, I've been having this bug too though it doesn't affect me much in PvP since practically everything is laggy/latent in Cyrodiil. Would like a fix for sure.
    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    I just started having this happen recently, very annoying! One thing I know changed on my side is that one of my video cards died. Now with only one card, I'm seeing new oddities. How much of the bug is definitely server side and how much is client side?

    its cause you're trying to weave/animation cancel before your cast is over and you cancel the cast. you can't animation cancel anything with a cast time otherwise you cancel the cast

    Well but the thing is the frags hangs in the air (appears cancelled) but it actually has hit, as the mob is frozen in place for a couple seconds then falls down dead.
    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    happens to me when I try to animation cancel with frags.

    It's a feature, not a bug...

    Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

    I've had that problem as well. And it seemed as if the hardcasted frag went off then together with a procced frag, killing the enemy instantly :lol:

    Hardcaster frags also desync the targets health.

    Edit: oh i guess u already mentioned that. Oh well reading is hard.

    Nope, not it, when the cast time is over, there is still some leftover animation, like your hands going forward and the projectile actually being "launched"...that part you can animation cancel with light attack or say..structured entropy. When you do that however, this bug kicks in and your hp and your targets hp is completely out of whack. It only started happening after the IC patch was launched.

    I used to have this even with instant-cast procs on my Sorc, but I'd always put it down to latency lag. Didn't realise it was an actual bug...

    Oh my goodness! This is so annoying. It happens multiple times a day, everyday since IC when I PVE. I saw one or two posts on it but it was never answered. So I just added it to the list of REALLY annoying things to try to look past.

    I do hope they fix it.

    This happens to everyone, I usually never cast that thing, because of this, but it could be worse.

    Have you ever accidentally animation cancelled negate? If you do, despite it being instant cast, it won't do anything, but it will still destroy your ult pool. -.-

    Pretty much lol

    Animation canceling is not part of the combat, players came up with it to make it faster, for ZOS to fix this they would need to redo their whole combat system.
    Also stop hard casting frags

    So, let me get this straight:

    An inherent mechanic meant to assist in combat fluidity is being overused and abused...and you are complaining about your inability to abuse a mechanic past it's original design intent?

    LOL this is so far low on the priority list of things to fix.

    Although as i mentioned above it does happen to a lesser extent with the instant-cast proc...that's just bad luck though. As it still hits the target at a point, it should be a rare situation that it actually effects the outcome of the battle as you should never, ever be spamming CF.

    See, now I have no clue what animation canceling is. But I think I'm understanding it a bit more. So it's when you hit an ability more than once before the cast time is up? I hear it talked about, but I could never grasp the concept I guess.

    I hard cast in PVE as my 1st distance hit. (I know I'm about to sound like an idiot to you all in the way I explain things, so I apologize in advance. This is my 1st game like this I've ever played lol so it's all still weird even after a year+ at this)

    I have learned not to hit the button faster than I can cast it because after the IC update, the ability won't go off at all, I'm just waving my hands around doing no damage. So I only do it when I'm at a distance & usually I can hit the target 3 times before I am in any danger. But also after the IC update, on the 3rd cast I get what's happening in the pic above.

    I don't know if what I do counts as animation canceling but I don't think so?
    I have tried my best not to use it in PVP though. I still keep it on my bar for the instant cast, but when I'm in the middle of fighting I end up getting flustered and hit the wrong button which is so annoying because I just know who ever is about to kill me mid accidental cast is laughing at me :) I'm sure the DK;s do!
    I laugh at what they must think when they are reflecting everything I do back at me! That is 100% my fault because I can't keep track of who I'm hitting sometimes and miss the fact that I hit the same DK with my instant cast that I JUST hit with my meteor. I am still learning since day one how to Sorc. Woah..I rambled.

    Anyway, It does this to me when I do them in a row, not really fast.
    And yes yes I know L2P. You don't have to say it. :)

    Check your combat log. It actually is being fired and hits. Just doesn't show the animation.

    This thread makes me lose even more faith in humanity.

    Animation canceling is something that happens naturally to everyone, and hard casting a frag can absolutely be a good decision given your situation.

    The ability is broken and you potatoe heads are worried about "animation canceling". It's a damn light attack after a frag. Get your heads out of your asses.

    just wanted to say LOL has animation canceling. it's only not as fast paced as eso cause you still have cd on abilty's but it does have infact animation canceling

    I know it hits!, sais so in the OP, I know it doesnt show the animation, read my post. The animation doesnt play and health desyncs ensue.

    It's not uncommon to hard cast frags to front load damage, especially if you are animation cancelling with something like a heavy attack from an inferno staff. They both hit at the same time and you take half (or more) of the mobs life before they can even react.

    Why are you hardcasting frags? They proc all the time.

    If they procced all the time, it wouldn't be possible to hard cast frags. ;)
