Does anyone like these? Isn't there a leaderboard for things like this? We're given a system that allows for up to 5 guilds with 500 members each and at the same time another dev is working up a spammy trial notification system on the other side of the building and doesn't realize it might be a good idea to make it optional?

Ok, I can get that those two devs may not have met up for a meeting and maybe, just maybe they don't realize how poorly these two systems interact. However, this has been an issue for months now. It doesn't take a team of 10 devs and 5000 man hours to put a fix in for this.

Some may say it's not a priority to add an option to turn it off, but to that I say, who thought it was a priority to put it in there in the first place?

I would like notifications of this nature to be "off" by default, let me turn them "on" on guild pages where I am interested in seeing what guildmembers are up to.

Yes I am interested if someone or a group from one of my play guilds gets through it, these are people I play with regularly, and would like to send a congratulatory message, I would turn the notification "on" for those 2 guilds.
For the 3 trade guilds, I don't really know that many people in them, I would leave the notifications for this sort of thing turned "off", it doesn't really mean a lot to me if player xxxyxxy with whom I have never played or even spoken to completes AA. It's just unnecessary notification spam.

Right now we don't even know which players from what guild to congratulate, which makes them meaningless even for people who care. They are 100% spam and annoyance.

There is an addon that will disable them. Forget what it's called. But I am already getting memory limit errors running 10 addons that I enjoy. So I stubbornly avoid it. But I hear it works well.

This will catch most of them but it hasn't been updated for 1.5 I don't think. Still works for me though

Exactly this. And it annoys the sweet bejeezus out of me. Make it stop!

Edit your Profile, you can turn of all the forum notifications in there

Too bad we can't do that on the Trials Notifications. We were even complaining in Guild Chat about this and a guild mate piped up and apologized as it was his group that did the run. This is the weirdest thing about the notifications, it does not even tell you what guild does this, nor the people.

So, we are given a piece of information that we don't want, that does not tell us anything beyond some people in an unknown guild went really fast (or slow) through a dungeon.

Give us an option to turn them off, and give some information to those who want these things.

EDIT You can mouse over to see the names, if you care to know that.

If you mouse over the notification, it shows the players' names.

Yeah, it will show the names if you mouse over, but not what guild they are from.

It's ok if you recognize the names (as happened yesterday) and you can congratulate your friends on a really good time.

As someone said above, being able to set them by guild would reduce the annoyance level by 90%

At one point I thought I'd try to determine which of the guilds I belonged to was packed with these achievers who generate these notifications and quit that guild....nope....I would have had to bail on 3 :(

I simply figured I'd missed the UI option to shut the danged things off....wrote Customer Support to ask where it was....and it was the only time they didn't get back to me.

Seriously, it's a bit sad (and hilarious) that story of players apologizing to their guild mates for accomplishing something in the game that triggered one.

This feels like an oversight that will be remedied one day....have to track down that mod in the meantime.

The rule is: anything in an online game that CAN be optional MUST BE made optional. Yes, this can make for horrid soup sandwich UIs as you add features, but it's the rule for a reason...the two Ms in MMO.

Actually I think it was a commandment on that third tablet that Moses dropped by accident...

Ah, my mouse goes straight for the X to delete so I don't have to see that flashing envelop icon on my UI all the time. I tried to double click on it one time to see if there was anymore information given, but that did not work.

Still, not information I want or need to have, even if I was doing the trials.

    Working as intended.

The devs made the notifications and have left them in the game to remind you that trials are a big deal. Because trials are a big deal, don't you know?

So where are all the people who like broken ui because it is so "immersive"? I thought you guys liked ui that has no customization options.

The UI has all kinds of customization options. Just not this one.
