If I could use my Magicka to blink not Stamina to roll...

Yup, you read that right.

How about, we can CHOOSE to use one of the pools to dodge &/or block and the other to cause damaging abilities?

I am sure a NB could "blink" rather than roll. (We have a similar ability to attack a target after all).
Templars could get divine intervention to move them from harm.
Dragon Knights could know where the blow would land and move appropriately.

So, we could dodge and block using the "blue pool" rather than the "green pool". By choice.

Would this make "balancing" easier or harder for devs? I would guess easier, but open to reasoning to the contrary.

    Soloeus,

I have seen you make some good, solid rational points in threads where you have a different view to the OP. I don't always agree with you but I respect the fact that you can communicate your view point. This kind of response isn't really worthy of you, you can do better.

This is actually one of the most refreshing ideas I've come across since a pretty long time. Doesn't sound too bad actually, it's just too bad that it'll probably never happen. Devs don't seem too keen to listening to player base suggestions.

Oh, I think they do listen, just have a hard time justifying "copyright". Which is a shame because I'd rather see a decent game than file a law-suit.

Despite the attempted "derail", I still think it a valid point of:
rather than raising weapon damage / crit and lowering magicka if you could pick which "pools" were used for certain types of ability it may make less "balancing" required?

Again, my post is a question looking for answers - nothing more.

Well I would certainly say that this would simplify balancing matters by a long shot. Or maybe I'm just over-looking things, it's quite late (3 am here) so it's more than possible.

I think the game really is fine with Dodge/Block using Stamina.

Nothing makes sense about your idea. The problem of "Stamina Builds" is a problem of players not using Class Abilities. I have seen the same problem where "Magicka Builds" run out of mana and become worthless cardboard props.

You have to learn to manage both resources. Blocking/Roll Dodging are part of the Stamina Resource. If you want to play on your Stamina Bar most of the time, that is fine but changing Game Mechanics about Blocking/Roll Dodge away from Stamina just to convenience you? No.

I agree with the OP! I also hate not sprinting because I need my stamina for my bow!

I dont agree with the first post under OP. Kind of childish response!

Just remove stamina cost altogether. If a move is not in a skill tree then it should cost no resources. I know there was a thread about that some where.

I agree with the cost for running and dodging and blocking.. just not with the fact it impacts on Stamina users. Just a choice WHERE that is drawn from.
Even the possibility of giving a "slight" bonus to classes if desired - all possible, in the right armour with the right passives (as it is now!).

Still just words and wind. What happens when you choose to take a block with health? (springs to mind)

I completely agree with your concept, OP. It would be cool if players could choose which resource to use for damage avoidance/mitigation.

So instead of blocking, we could choose to activate a ward that consumes magicka - sort of like how it was in Skyrim.

Instead of roll-dodging, a blink type mechanism would work just fine. The animation could be worked out so that the timing, feel, and distance would be exactly the same as roll-dodging for balance purposes.

    Love it!

I don't like the idea of using magic for sprinting/dodging/blocking. Technically, you can already use magic for that (mist form for speed, bolt escape for dodge, wards for blocking, etc)

However, it's been confirmed that spellcrafting will introduce a spell that converts magic to stamina. That should really help stamina users. However, that won't be here for a while...
