What are the flappy things on the hips of your armor called?

You know the ones. They look like pauldrons, except they go on your hips and generally cause all kinds of weapon clipping issues. Most armor in this game has them, though a few don't. I'm just wondering if maybe there's an actual name for them other than "flappy hip things".

Faulds? But they don't always look right and everyone just calls them hip plate, so you can go with that.

Had to google "tassets", but sure enough, that's what they are! Thanks.

Tassets are for protecting the upper legs, usually hung off the faulds

Well, most armor in this game has tassets in some form. Faulds are more dress-y than tassets, so I would say that some light armor has faulds as well, but almost everything has tassets.

What about the flappy things that dangle front-and-back, and slap continuously against your legs when you try to run?

Every character I have now exclusively wears medium Bosmer jackets, which are the only armour jackets without the aforementioned front-and-back flappy things, as they all got fed up of having bruised thighs...

What are the flappy things on the hips of your armor called?

    answer:
a failed attempt at recreating a set of good looking armor that we had in morrowind allready looked good so we tried to make it look good by adding in some realy stupid looking love handle, flapps, hip guards, belt protector, type new world order, waste and belt coverer.

skillets, cooking sheets, frying pans....IDK what they are but they are hideous in design and the worst thing about armor in ESO....they even put them on robes! I mean really????? Wish they would revamp those across the board, remove most of em and make the ones they leave (some med/heavy) VERY MUCH SMALLER or something

Technically they would only be flaps if they were used to attach another item to the armour (ie you put glue on them and press another piece onto them).

On most armor styles I like them, but some, like the khajiit style, look clearly detached and poorly modelled.

The worst part is what they look like while riding your horse.

They look like conquistador pants when you sit down.

In the 1.3.0 patch notes, they called them "loincloths", so I'm guessing that's what they are.

So I made my character's butt too big (could not tell in the creation window that it would clip) and so the flappy things clip with my pants. It's just ugly. Either fix the clipping issues or allow us to remove them entirely. lol
