Thing I noticed about farming leatherworking goods, in particular, is that it's a bit different way of thinking since we have to KILL our targets to get their hide. That is, with the other types of crafting ingredients there ARE certain areas that are, for example, heavily loaded with mining nodes or flower fields.
But for leatherworking we're looking for "herds"... I just realized last night when I saw a herd of guar that, hey, those guys are walking leatherworking component factories! They're not hostile (just like mudcrabs aren't) so they sort of fade into the background. Except THEY are our "nodes"!
As for a specific locale, can't help there. In the early levels, mudcrabs were easy to find along shorelines and were an easy source of rawhide. Not sure if the higher level mudcrabs drop higher level leathergoods or not.
Hide scraps drops from level 16 to 25 mobs, leather scraps from 26 to 35 mobs, ect. Mudcrabs do seem to be good for this, they seem to be everywhere. In regards to where you are, I can't help sorry, as I don't know the area. I know in Deshaan (the 16 to 25 zone for Ebonheart Pact), there was a nice spot in the Mournhold Sewers where you could just farm level 19 Alit's with ease. Sometimes quests can land you in a nice spot for farming.
But as Sorpaijen_ESO said above, just look for herds. Passive herds are the best. Happy hunting.
Yeah I agree with both posts above, basically just find yourself a cheeky little beast farming spot and enjoy. Alternatively if you are in a guild it doesn't hurt to ask/offer to buy someones leather, not everybody is doing all professions at once. Guild members should also sell you it for a fair price being a guildee and all
