Need Help w/ Skill Lists & Crit

Here is a list of all the classes and weapon powers in the game at current (1.4) and what I think (key word think) is their CRIT type, this is not damage, it is CRIT. As crit seems to be the main fluxuator in the formula's out there.

I am hoping that the community at large can give feed back based on personal experience with this, that way we, as a whole, can know based on experience when we are building our toons where and how we should be focusing our crit.

From my understanding damage is as such: Magica abilities = spell damage, Stamina abilities = weapon damage. However crit varies on ability. Thanks for the help and if you have changes please list each ability and the type of crit you think it does and why, separately I will change them here in the OP. Thanks again.

    Getting a lot of views but not so much input, anyone else know from experience what powers are based off of which crit? Any help with this would be great. There is a possible addon that might be based off this information and this would be good for GP sake since Zeni/ESO won't tell us so it is up to use to get this info ourselves.     Just to be clear, the properties for Expert Hunter are:

    1. Damage scales off stamina
    2. Damage scales off spell damage
    3. Crit is spell crit
    4. Effect is resisted by spell resistance

    Is the above correct?

    What about flawless dawnbreaker?

    Here's the answer, guys. It's pretty confusing.
    melee abilities & melee/missile weapons use weapon crit, even if they cost magicka.
    ranged abilities & staves use spell crit, even if they cost stamina.
    class skills use spell power
    weapon skills use weapon power
    If an ability costs magicka, it also scales off magicka.
    If an ability costs Stamina, it also scales off Stamina.

    There are a few exceptions to these rules, but not many. One can argue how this should really all be to make sense, but at the end of the day... zenimax just needs to put this information in the damn tooltips. If they do that, their reasoning doesnt need to be intuitive.

    Hey Guys,

    Qhival's post is super informative, and hopefully we can help clear up a little more of the critical strike info for you. Currently critical strikes are based on the defense that an ability checks when it goes off.

    So when you use an ability like Uppercut, it checks against the target's Armor when it does damage. This means it has a Critical Strike chance based off of your Weapon Critical stat.

    If you are using an ability like Crystal Shards that checks against the target's Spell Resistance when it does damage, it will base its Critical Strike chance off of your Spell Critical stat.

    For Update 6 we are making a huge effort to make sure that everything that costs Magicka scales in damage based off your Max Magicka and Spell Damage, and uses Spell Critical as its Critical Strike Chance. Similarly, all abilities that cost Stamina will scale in damage based off your Max Stamina and Weapon Damage, and use Weapon Critical as their Critical Strike Chance.

    We know that currently it’s a little confusing to determine what stats modify your abilities when you put them on your bar, and we are working to make sure it will be very obvious in the future.

    I hope some class abilities will be changed to cost stamina and some weapon skills changed to magicka so that class and weapon skills will have some cohesiveness, otherwise people are going to lump all the weapon skills into stamina builds, and all the class skills into mana builds. spell crit shenanigans is really the only thing stopping this from happening right now. If it's fixed in the wrong way it will limit build diversity.

    Well I do hope they realize that NBs need their weapon crit on their class skills. NBs are build to be stealthers. Stealthers need medium armor. Medium armor give weapon crit.

    If they make the NBs sneak attack use spell crit then it makes no sense that the stealth armor give weapon crit.

    Lets hope that after all the debate between armor, abilities, crit, magica, stamina and everything else mixed in here that with this new balance, I hope they got people looking super close at this for the rebalance. I personally would think that each class should have at least one power line (or the equivalent of) be stam based even if it is intermixed among all the ability lines. It would balance the amount of stam abilities vs the amount of magic abilities out a lot more and allow for more stam builds and people that wear something other than LA for max efficiency. Just my .02 cents.

    Restoration- and Healing-Staff Skills scaling off spelldamage would also mean, that the quality and level of the weapon you wield would no longer be important for the output of the corresponding skills.. sounds strange.

    And a skill like surge will be much less useful than it is now for staff wielders, when it will not be changed to also add spell damage, making that very, perhaps too powerful for class-skills and so on.. mh.. complicated.

    But, I am sure, more Information will come for this soon. :)

    That is what it sounds like. A lot of people will rage about it probably, as much of their gear will now be entirely useless, but it's probably better in the long run. If anything it really should have been like that from the start.

    The next thing we need is the ability to change at least some class abilities to stamina skills.

    If anything, crit surge should be changed to either a choice of weapon or spell damage or just both of them. There are melee sorcs out there who'd hate to have what little they get from the class taken away.
