I agree...chars do look slightly different in game than on char creation screen and I'd really like to change a few features about my characters but...
I'm not really sure why it's not in the game yet, really. I understand there certainly are more important things to do but c'mon...they're working on improved face animations. That team might've as well made a barber before that. Besides, they don't actually have to invent a wheel for it - the character creation system is already there, all they need is give us some way to access it(limitedly, obviously without changing race/alliance) out of char creation.
been wishing, hoping, and feedbacking about this for over a year... maybe in another year. I really hate the argument that they need to focus on "more important stuff like fixing bugs first" because then these fun quality of life improvements never get done.

And show them lovely beautiful hair and pray they become obsessed with it? I'd even provide styles, draw them out and possibly send them models. Just anything but ridiculous mohawks or dreadlocks. ö_ö
I'd have loved a local "save character" option from character creation, that in itself would do wonders, however, being that its so misleading it would take quite some time and be such a lengthy process. Also considering you might only notice something off with that character by the time they're level 40.
Not such a wonderful option.
Also, part of the problem with this "Barber" idea, I think, is just they have no idea how to implement it. Like for instance a person can't change your character's voice, height, or size of their hands or feet, but I think those are important to be able to change. I've been pondering about this for quite some time and curious what might seem suitable to have the ability to make such changes.
In my ten plus years of playing MMO's I've noticved that this sort of thing often gets implemented towards year two of a game. I have no idea why this is the case, but there's no doubt a very worthy reason why.

1. New hairstyles and a way to access them. A barber would be perfect for this. You simply go to the barber/vendor, choose the hairstyle, and pay. THIS option should be moderately priced and should not change hair color. IF it is not too much trouble (and I really don't see why it would be) you can ALSO change your hair color as a separate service that you would need to pay for separately.
2. Name changer. This should be done at the bank and be just another service the bank offers. Some cute dialogue about how this won't hide you from the eyes of the law could be pretty cool as well. Heck, if you currently have a bounty on you maybe you CAN'T change your name. Unless, of course, you can pay a HUGE amount of gold to bribe the bank official to "forge" your papers and the end result is that your bounty goes away but you are now poor as dirt! LOL
3. More "adornments" and access to them. Again, another vendor. I kinda feel we have PLENTY of scars and what we REALLY need are more makeup options. Yes, for MEN too! Different shading and contouring can make a tremendous change in how your character looks. More facial hair options for men would also be nice. Again, moderate cost on this. However, as this will likely involve some sort of access to the character creation screen it MAY need to be saved for later and implemented only as part of my final suggestion.
These 3 (or at least the first 2) things CAN be implemented soon and with minimal effort on the part of ZoS. And they SHOULD do it rather than holding out on us in order to try to wow us with some magnificent all-inclusive system with lots of bells and whistles a year or even 6 months from now. Both are too long. We need access to the above sooner rather than later.
LATER they can implement a more elaborate system where maybe you can take a trip to Eveya (a specific pocket dimension of it anyway) where you can pay an arch mage an inordinate amount of gold to perform a transformation spell on you. Mage begins the spell, you are lifted up and bathed in light... and then you are back in the character creator. There, you may change name, sex, and all physical characteristics. You CANNOT change anything that has a stat attached to it, so no race or class changes. From there you can COMPLETELY remake your character if that is your desire or just do all the minor tweaking that you've been wanting to do to make them more exactly the way you've decided you want them to be.
