Option for centered third person camera

Do you want an option in interface menu for centered third person camera?

Simple. Do you want an menu option to change thrid person camera placement from right to center?

I imagine im not alone, playing allways with 3rd person camerqa. In close encounters i tend to miss quite a bit since i tend to aim where my head is instead of where the reticle is. This happens sometimes with spells too.

In Skyrim, it was easy to fix by small .ini tweaks but alas, not possible here.

I suppose it is since it looks cool for some but it just makes moving and combat disorienting.

And if you are like me, who wants full immersion and has addon hide all from screen including reticle, it just doesnt work when you look at your character but move and attack where your character dont seem to be looking.

So, you want full immersion, but play in third person. How's that work exactly?

No. Because I believe I read somewhere that isn't just a simple fix. The reason it's offset when zoomed in, is because if it wasn't, it causes problems with it being viable. They attempted everything they could but nothing fixed it. So they had to leave it offset.

Sure, very hard to do. Easiest way would be to simply move character to place of target reticle instead of moving reticle to character. This would still be bit awkward but much better.

Skyrim had totally different engine naturally... But with few simple lines on .ini file. You did not only move that reticle to place you wanted it to be but the point where you target as well. Nothing major was changed and all this was possible. No coding or anything.

There was one small inconvenience i remember, dual wield spells did not hit something that was less than half a meter from you, they went through.

Anyway, seems far fetched to say, that something so small than moving stuff from place a to place b would really require too much effort.

Artistic or design teams tend to be stubborn too. We designed it like this, this is how it will stay.

Its really strange. I absolutely love the first person in this game (well all TES games)

I use it most of the time. However its advantageous to use 3rd person in some situations. Thing is its all or nothing with 3rd person, because of that stupid over the shoulder crosshairs that makes everything so akward.

If this game has normal 3rd person camera, it would literally be the best of both worlds...great first person and great third person.

Right now its great first person, ok 3rd person when zoomed out all the way, and just awful 3rd person anything closer than all the way zoomed...which imo is too far for most situations (especially inside)

I like playing with the current camera...

I'd love a centered camera for group screenshots, though... It's always hard to frame the whole group with that camera.

(For solo screenshots it is fine)

    Yes. A thousand times yes.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

It works if you don't believe you are the player, but are watching the player. You immerse yourself in his world and watch him as if he were real. Are you capable of grasping such a concept? Or do you make characters of the opposite gender and pretend it's yourself?

Yep, made a post about this and other 3rd-person fixes/options that would be good here a long time back: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/108058/good-first-person-is-getting-some-help-but-what-about-third-person-we-ve-needed-fixes-too#latest

    Quoting myself:
-Allow us to zoom further away from behind the character while in 3rd-person view. I can barely see more than several feet to my sides, and a few feet behind me. This is completely inadequate for PVP and for boss fights where the boss is taller than my screen at this point. We actually used to be able to zoom out further in beta but they randomly (and without patch note or explanation) limited it to about 2/3 of that at some point. Even that was already borderline before, but now it is and has been way too close in for many game situations or players' preferences.

-Allow us to choose to center the camera on us or slightly above us instead of having it in an over-the-shoulder off-to-the-right position. Having the off-center camera feels completely wrong while running around in terms of the motion, is unintuitive for targeting, and causes motion sickness/makes the game hard to play due to that, for some people.

While for me it's a gameplay annoyance, I also have a relative who has been able to only play a little because she gets motion sick being so tightly in on her character while other MMO's have allowed her to zoom out enough that she's 100% fine with them. :(

-Allow us to adjust FOV for the third-person camera just as we can for the first-person one now. This shouldn't need any explanation, first-person mode has it, why can't we in third-person now? The constricted FOV feels awkward to me and impedes my enjoyment of the game just as I'm sure it did for first-person users.

These are all very much-needed changes that have been asked for just as long as FOV for first-person was and alongside them in the very same threads, so I am disappointed to see that they didn't touch third-person's problems here especially when one of them was shared directly with first-person view even and got fixed for that. I hope we can see a devpost addressing these needs.

Just to head off a few things in advance, NO there are no addons that allow for any of this functionality, NO there is no option in-game for it now, and NO, the fan-made closed-source esoLauncher executable doesn't provide this functionality nor is it particularly safe to use as it's basically what amounts to a third-party hack tool and has potential security risks associated (or could stop being supported any day the author decides to). These are important in-game options to have as I touched on above.

For the love of all that is holy! Yes add this option please. The offset is so awkward that even though I have been playing since sometime in beta the game still feels off in this regard. See attached screenshot for how I would prefer to play.

I always play as character, i dont consider myself as "player". Playing RPG, especially TES games, has always been about my characters story and being that character, feel for NPC's and their reasons. weight carefully consequences of what i am about to do if possible. This feels the most satisfying way of playing RPG games.

The people voting no make me curious.

Why are you voting no ?

Would having a CHOICE of camera angle be detrimental to your gameplay ?

Hum , really could use a third "i agree they should add so others that care could use" option there.

Personally i dont have anything in favor or against this , but some want it , so why not.

I have been playing ESO on third camera view since the start ( first TES game i do this actually , usually i play only on first person view ) , never really minded the camera much , it works fine for me.
