God of Schemes - Hotfix Now Live

We have pushed a hotfix for an issue that was preventing some of you from completing the quest “God of Schemes” in Coldharbour.

[Spoilers Ahead!]

Dying during the final confrontation with Molag Bal will no longer stop you from using Sacrifice of Courage to defeat him. This hotfix will resolve most cases where the quest was not able to be completed. If you are still unable to complete God of Schemes after today’s hotfix, please reply to this thread with the steps you took to get the quest into a bugged state.

I went through the map as normal, picked Varen as my sacrifice, some killing, later, after being grabbed by Molag Bal, he just stands there shaking me, no prompt to zap him, nothing. I've relogged to reset the last portion of the quest, same thing. It did this yesterday as well - he'd grab me, then nothing, just me in the hands of Molag Bal while he stands there roaring at me.

Experiencing the same thing for the last three days... Coincidently my first char was locked out of progression on the same quest during launch for 3days. Which bug did you fix? b/c as of 10seconds ago Molag Bal was still dropping me to my death every time I tried to engage him

yes this!!!! started 3 days ago and i have put in tickets to get it resolved but no reply yet. And a lot of times he will drop me to my death and then its all over.

Was told about the hot fix 15 minutes ago.
Just tried to do the quest again. Got grabbed by molag bal - all he does is yell at me and breathe his nasty breath on me. Won't progress any further. Same thing he was doing yesterday.

Just curious - i picked varen too. Wonder what would happen if we pick someone else? Lyris seems to think its Sai being sacrificed by her comments.

I hope it's not a problem with Varen, or if it is, it gets fixed soon. I don't really want to pick either of the other 2 just to get a not-bugged instance.

Issue is not fixed at all. I am still getting stuck in his hand after dropping the quest and choosing different npcs to take with me.

yes. I believe the issue started with the latest content update on Monday morning.

Exact same problem for me as well. And it's still happening as of two minutes ago.

Hotfix is either not in place or not working. Still doing the same for me and I saw no new updates when I opened launcer. Oh and the steps to get the bug are to just follow the quest, it's not like we are all doing something special to cause it.

It looks like the game code quality is quite below par if not horrible, since this is not the only regression introduced after a patch. Also it would be helpful to use your own resources to test unreliable hotfixes instead of asking paying customers to provide feedback.
It's about time to address overall game quality instead of focusing on endgame content that is actually unfinished and exploitable.

Yup still not fixed.

You progress in the quest as normal. I picked Lyris as my sacrifice, but i've tried Sai also.
You get to Molag, you levitate into his hands and nothing.
He just keeps hold of you and growls.

If i relog, he grabs me again and then drops me to my death. No synergy occurs.

This is my view. And it just stays like this, forever.

I was able to do this fight a couple weeks ago. Then yesterday, before the hotfix I go to do the fight again on a new character and its broken (he grabs me and never lets me go, or I fall and die.)

as of about 10 mins ago it didnt work for me. first time he would just drop me and i died. after relog he would just hold me and yell at me. no options available but to just stay there and be yelled at.

First off, if you or anyone at ZOS read the forums you would know many MANY people were having this exact problem before your "fix".

Also does anyone at ZOS know the meaning of the word "fix"?

Just tried it, 5-10 minutes ago. Like many others, I'm still stuck in his hand with him screaming at me. A cheating skeever he is.

This was my third try, and yes, I also had this problem in the two tries I attempted before the fix.

Also submitted a bug report ingame.

Before & after the hotfix, still bugged. Slipping through his hands to the ground & dancing like a puppet.

I completed this quest last week, this week on another toon its broken.

I have tried picking varen, sai and lyris, still same results

Maybe we are all critters to him, and therefore his skills are grayed out, and cannot be used on us.

I think Molag Bal was dropped on his head as a child. It made him simple, so all he does is smash the players all day every day.

Well, at about 11:30 am your time I attempted to complete this quest for the first time and it was bugged. I relogged a few times but did not drop and pickup the quest. At the point where MB picks me up, I got two goes round of endless halitosis screaming, once case of dropped to my death, 2 more cases of screaming. That included going in AddOn free for the last 2 tries.

We have identified an additional issue, and pushed a temporary fix for it on both the North American and European megaservers. Could those of you who were running into this issue try one more time?
